The Humuhumunukunukuapua`a (Rhinecanthus rectangulus) is also known as the rectangular trigger fish or Hawaiian trigger fish.
The Humuhumu was adopted as the official State Fish in 1985 on a temporary basis and then again in 2006 on a permanent basis. This little fellow's Hawaiian name means fish with a nose like a pig.
The Aloha Wood Art rendition of this much loved reef fish is created using exotic hardwoods with no paint or stain. Each color is a different type of wood. Note the beautifully carved detail in the fins. The color and grain of the individual pieces of wood vary, making each piece a truly one-of-a-kind work of art.
